MOCOWs (Monterey County Water Systems) is a group of rural Monterey county residents on wells who are concerned about proposed draconian legislation that is coming down the pipe very fast. The acronym might make you think this is a government agency but it is not. It is a community group. I really like their fb image of a swamp monster. >>>>>

The MOCOWs group met for the first time as a community on Monday April 8.
Folks who formed it presented a lot of good information on three key agencies that affect people and some of this current legislation.
I came to be interested via my strange, related experience with www.curesoworks.org documented on this home page.
Relevant Definitions:
POU - Point of Use filter ( filter under bath sink for example)
POE - Point of Entry Filter (filter at well head or at water supply entrance to home for example
Based on the meeting I went to, Monterey County is proposing fairly draconian legislation related to 1) water quality as it pertains to in home consumption from wells 2) sustainability due to overdraft and 3) Salt Water Intrusion.
The bills seem way overly burdensome and intrusive, especially given only 6% of water is consumes by resdents and 94% is consumed by Big Ag AND that Big Ag is the major polluter.
This legislation is coming from multiple different water authority groups who are not including residents properly in the process.

April 13, 2019 - The MOCOWs reviewers have realized this fully affects private well owners in addition to small water system.
This poster is making the right observations -- Monterrey County has only asked for input from a few water system managers (shared well managers) when in fact this would affect 1000's of residents with a private well who have no idea what is going on.
[I experienced the same type of legislation manipulation with Expedia at the local and state level as it related to very nefarious laws related to vacation rentals. I also worked with folks in Missouri seeing similar. All of our county and state level systems are seemingly well infiltrated now by corporate interests who have taken years to get into state county and even city levels]

I documented the strange and disturbing stuff I heard about being forced to use superbly filtered water for flushing toilets in the MOCOWS meeting. And Wiener Schnitzel is involved.
April 9, 2019 -- This is the MOCOWs post I found that notified me of the meeting. I went...I met some nice people and heard some nice presentations (which are now posted above in the April 12 post) .
I heard some really, really disturbing crap about State and Local Government agendas being driven by Corporate behemoths with no regard for us little people.
